President Paul Kagame has sacked General Patrick Nyamvumva as Minister of the Internal Security barely six months into the position.
“Today, the 27th April 2020, His Excellency The President has removed General Patrick Nyamvumva from his duties as Minister of the Internal Security, owing to matters of accountability under investigation.” A statement from the Office of the Prime Minister indicates.
The brief statement said the General who is now under investigation will report back to RDF (Rwanda Defense Forces) headquarters pending further decision.
Gen. Nyamvumba has served as Minister of Internal Security since last November when he was moved to the newly created ministry from RDF Chief of Defense Staff.
Nyamvumba is the latest minister to be sacked from cabinet this year after four more were fired for different reasons. Among those fire are; Dr. Diane Gashumba (Health), Evode Uwizeyimana (State Minister in charge of Constitutional and Legal Affairs), Isaac Munyakazi (State Minister in charge of Primary and Secondary Education) and Olivier Nduhungirehe (State Minister in charge of East African Community).
