Rwanda’s ministry of health has received 15 tons of medical supplies donated by the Emir of Qatar, Sheik Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to support Rwanda’s COVID19 response efforts.
The Emir of Qatar had earlier on promised to support Rwanda and other countries in response to fight against the raging COVID-19 pandemic that has devastated the whole world paralyzing almost every sector of the economy.
Dr. Daniel Ngamije, the Minister of Health received the supplies at Kigali International Airport brought by Qatar Airways this Wednesday morning.
The supplies include personal protective equipment (PPEs) surgical gowns, goggles, gloves, face shields including masks and testing kits.
Other countries that have benefited from the Qatar aid include Algeria and Tunisia in north Africa and Nepal in Asia.
Rwanda and Qatar enjoy close relations, the leaders of the two countries have visited each country on various occasions signing bilateral agreements. Qatar Airways also acquired a stake in Bugesera International Airport and there are ongoing negotiations to acquire a stake in RwandAir.
