Rwanda is hosting Pascal Ianni, the French military official responsible for cooperation with African countries, for a three-day visit aimed at strengthening defense and security ties between the two countries.
During the visit, Ianni met Rwanda’s defense minister, Juvenal Marizamunda, and Chief of Defense Staff MK Mubarakh, alongside senior officials overseeing international military cooperation.
The discussions focused on expanding collaboration between the French Armed Forces and the Rwanda Defence Force in military training, intelligence sharing and broader security cooperation.
Ianni also visited the Gabiro Combat Training Centre and later delivered a lecture to students at the Higher Military Academy in Musanze District on France’s role in African security cooperation.
Military relations between Rwanda and France have expanded through bilateral agreements and regular meetings of a joint military cooperation commission aimed at strengthening partnerships and sharing expertise.
French military delegations visiting Rwanda also continue to pay tribute to victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi at the Kigali Genocide Memorial.
