President Kagame on Saturday led Rwandans in marking the 26th Anniversary of Liberation. The Liberation Day is held every year on 4th July, marking the day the Rwandan Patriotic Army stopped the Genocide against the Tutsi.

The celebrations at the national level were held in Nyagatare District, Eastern Province, with the inauguration of Gishuro Model Village, home to 64 families, an ECD center, a school with smart classrooms and a health centre.

Each house in the model village is equipped with gas, TV, radio and a smartphone for the family while the ECD center consists of 3 classrooms for 100 children, 1 office and 1 sleeping room as well as a kitchen with gas and cooking stoves.

The renovated Groupe Scolaire Tabagwe will be home to over 3000 students and is equipped with smart classrooms to enhance digital literacy, laboratories, a library and sports facilities.

The Tabagwe Health Center features a main reception block, a pharmacy, a laboratory, offices, Outpatient Department services and more. The health center features separate wards for men, women and children.

Kwibohora celebrations have been an occasion to celebrate several activities conducted by Rwanda Defense Force (RDF), in collaboration with other government institutions, aiming at contributing to national economic transformation.

The year 2019-2020 saw the construction of 14 model villages which house 832 families, 286 homes for Genocide survivors, 20 bridges across 8 districts, over 400KM of roads across 15 districts, 11 medical facilities, as well as agriculture and livestock activities.
