There was little warning, just a short message, and another chapter quietly closed at one of Rwanda’s biggest clubs.

Rayon Sports F.C. have parted ways with their French head coach Bruno Ferry, just three months after he took charge.

The club confirmed the decision on Friday, March 20, 2026, in a brief statement shared on social media.

“By mutual agreement, Rayon Sports has parted ways with head coach Bruno Ferry. Thank you very much, coach Bruno Ferry.”

It’s a familiar pattern for the Kigali-based side.

Ferry had only joined the club in December, stepping in on the 18th to replace Afhamia Lotfi, who was also dismissed after a short three-month spell. Now, history seems to have repeated itself.

He leaves Rayon Sports sitting fifth in the league with 39 points, still within reach of stronger contention,  and with the team through to the semi-finals of the 2026 Peace Cup. On paper, it’s not a disastrous position. But clearly, it wasn’t enough.

For now, assistant coach Lomami Marcel has stepped in as caretaker and is expected to lead the team in their upcoming match against Gasogi United F.C. this Sunday.

Behind the scenes, attention is already turning to who comes next.

One name being widely mentioned is Haringingo Francis Christian, the current head coach of Kiyovu Sports F.C.  He is no stranger to Rwandan football, having coached several clubs including Mukura VS, Police FC, Bugesera FC, and even Rayon before.

During his previous stint with the club in 2023, Haringingo led Rayon to victory in the Peace Cup, defeating rivals APR F.C. in the final, a result that still carries weight among fans.

At present, his Kiyovu side sits seventh in the league with 36 points, but his experience and familiarity with the club make him a strong contender for a return.

Off-field concerns growing

The coaching changes come at a time when Rayon is also facing challenges off the pitch.

The club is reportedly under FIFA sanctions, restricting them from registering new players during the transfer window. In addition, former coach Afhamia Lotfi is said to be claiming more than 85 million Rwandan francs in unpaid wages.

While details around the dispute remain unclear, the situation adds another layer of pressure on a club already dealing with instability on the bench.

For Rayon, the season is still alive, but with another coaching change and unresolved issues behind the scenes, the question now is whether the club can steady itself before the decisive stages ahead.
