Rwandan Prime Minister Justin Nsengiyumva arrived this Monday, March 30, in Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic, to represent President Paul Kagame at the inauguration of re-elected President Faustin-Archange Touadéra.
Leading a high-level official delegation from Rwanda, upon his arrival at Bangui M’Poko International Airport, the Prime Minister was welcomed with full protocol honors by Central African authorities.
PM Nsengiyumva had just returned from Malabo, in Equatorial Guinea, where he took part in the 11th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States.
Faustin-Archange Touadéra will be sworn in this Monday for a third seven-year term as head of the Central African Republic. The inauguration marks the official beginning of the Seventh Republic, established following the 2023 constitutional reform.
The Central African capital has undergone a facelift for what authorities describe as a historic event. Faustin-Archange Touadéra was re-elected last December with 77.90% of the vote.
Relations between Rwanda and the Central African Republic are very close and strategic, based on a strong bilateral partnership focused on security and development.
Rwanda actively supports President Touadéra’s government, particularly through the training of Central African forces and the deployment of troops (both bilateral and under United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic) to protect Bangui and help secure the country against rebel groups.
