Police FC have edged Musanze FC on penalties on Wednesday evening at Kigali Stadium to qualify for the second round of the 2020 Peace Cup tournament.
Going into this return leg, Police FC the host was required to avoid a second defeat to maintain their chances of qualifying having lost the first game 1-0 in the first leg.
Luckily, they scored a lonely goal courtesy of Isaie Songa through a penalty in the full 90 minutes of the game to tie 1-all on goal aggregate.
The closely contested encounter headed in the kicks [penalties] but it was Police FC who got the edge from the penalty mark winning 4-2. No extra time was played.
Justin Mico, Eric Ngendahimana, Youssuf Munyakazi and Aimable Nsabimana converted for the law enforcers while Issa Bigirimana missed his penalty.
Only two players converted for Musanze FC that is Habyarimana and Cedrick Mugenzi the rest missed giving Police FC the opportunity to qualify for the second round.
In the other games that were played, Sunrise FC defeat Espoir FC 3-0, Interforce drew 1-1 with AS Muhanga, Rayon Sports edged Intare FC 2-0, APR FC brushed off Etoile FC by 1-0, Marines FC was too good for Gorilla FC having beaten them 3-0 while Mukura VS edged Bugesera FC packing by edging them Eastern province-based side by 3-1.
