Morocco, AfDB sign financing for Construction of Nador West Med Port and Rabat-Salé Airport Extension

Rabat: The Ministry of Economy and Finance and the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) signed, on Monday  June 13, 2022, in Rabat on the sidelines of the high-level F15 Committee meeting, the legal documentation relating to the construction projects of the Nador West Med (NWM) port complex to be carried out by the Company Nador West Med (SNWM) and extension and modernization of the airport of Rabat-Salé to be carried out by the National Office of Airports (ONDA)

This documentation was signed by Economy and Finance Minister Nadia Fettah, and the Acting Vice President in charge of Regional Development, Integration and Service Delivery of the AfDB, Yacine Fal, during a ceremony held in the presence of the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mohammed Abdeljalil, SNWM CEO Mohamed Jamal Benjelloun, and ONDA Director General Habiba Laklalech, said a statement from the Ministry.

Fettah took this opportunity to highlight the important role of the ADB as a partner of reference in supporting sectoral development strategies and infrastructure, launched under the High Royal Directions, said the same source.

For her part, Fal welcomed the good relations between Morocco and the AfDB and confirmed the availability of her institution to provide financial and technical support to support the dynamics of economic and social reforms initiated by the Kingdom.

At the end of the signing, the two officials reaffirmed their common will to further strengthen the already excellent cooperation relations between Morocco and the AfDB, the statement concluded.
