Rtd Brig Gen Jean Damascène Sekamana has resigned from his position as the President of the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA), according a press statement posted on FERWAFA’s website.
The contents of his resignation letter posted this Wednesday, 14 April 2021, attributes his resignation to the difficulty on him to juggle both his personal responsibilities and the daily demands of managing the federation’s work.
He wrote to the general assembly indicating that following up the responsibilities of the football body required him a lot of time and effort because it is a day-to-day job and combining both with his personal responsibilities would have a negative impact on the development of football.
He thanked the general assembly of FERWAFA for the trust and confidence extended to him during his mandate at the Rwandan football body.
Sekamana has been at the helm of football in the country for three years having been elected Ferwafa President in April 2018 and his term was supposed to run out next year.
