Stage five of the Tour du Rwanda unfolded in Musanze today, featuring an individual time trial format.
French rider Pierre Latour emerged victorious, conquering the 13-kilometer course in a time of 23 minutes, 31 seconds, and 79 hundredths of a second.
Latour, racing for Team TotalEnergies, displayed impressive pace throughout the stage, ultimately securing his first win in the 2024 Tour du Rwanda. However, the overall leader’s yellow jersey, known as the Maillot Jaune, shifted to another rider.
Belgian rider William Junior Lecerf, representing Soudal-QuickStep, put in a strong performance to claim the coveted yellow jersey. Lecerf’s previous position and overall time entering the stage allowed him to seize the lead following Latour’s stage victory.
The Tour du Rwanda continues to captivate audiences with its exciting stages and fierce competition. As the peloton progresses, all eyes will be on Lecerf to see if he can maintain his lead and on other riders like Latour who will be aiming for stage wins and potentially challenging for the overall title.
