Eritrean rider Merhawi Kudus won Tour du Rwanda 2019 this Sunday’s following an eight long stages of 953.6 Km.
Merhawi kept the Yellow Jersey since the second stage of Kigali-Huye. In the third stage, he was first in the race with a 15 second lead over the second winner.
The eighth and final stage of Kigali on 61 Km of this Sunday was won by the Colombian Rodrigo Contrera.
But in the overall standings, Kudus was first in all the long stages of 953.6 km riding for 24 hours 10 minutes 37 seconds. Taaramae Rein of Direct Energy ranked second; and Badilatti Mateo of Israel Cycling Academy was third.
The Rwandan rider who performed best was Joseph Areruya who came at the 9th position. He was overtaken by Kudus by 7 minutes 10 seconds.
