Azam Rwanda Premier League champions APR FC have been crowned champions of the 2018 Super Cup after defeating Mukura VS in the game played on Saturday at Stade Umuganda in Rubavu District, Western Province.

The encounter ended goalless at half time before the military side snatched two goals, one at the start of the second half scored by Hakizimana Muhadjiri in the 46th minute before Bigirimana Issa scored the second goal in the 53rd minute.

The game started on a low temple and got to its rhythm as the game went ahead. APR FC wasted several chances through Savio Nshuti Dominique, Hakizimana and skipper Mugiraneza Jean Baptista.

On the other side, Mukura VS who clearly were not on their competitive part following their recent start of pre-season training had best opportunities through skipper Ciza Mugabo Hussein, Mutebi Rashid and Romami Frank but denied through APR FC goalie Kimenyi Yves.

Victory for APR FC also earned them Rwf. 5 million in prize money and have dethroned Rayon Sports FC who won last year’s edition.

The FERWAFA-Azam Super Cup is a contest between the champions of Azam Rwanda Premier League and the winners of Rwanda Peace Cup.

APR FC will represent Rwanda at next the edition of the Total CAF Champions League while Mukura VS will compete in the Total CAF Confederation Cup. (End)
