The Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) dissolved all leadership structures at the club and appointed Murenzi Abdallah as head of an interim committee, a move that mirrors the board’s intervention in 2020.
The problems at Rayon Sports go far beyond boardroom disputes. In recent months, tensions have grown between the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Audit Committee, and Conflict Resolution Committee, leaving players unsettled, staff frustrated, and fans worried about the club’s future.

Eighteen members of Rayon Sports’ leadership met with RGB officials at the board’s headquarters on Tuesday. A statement signed by former Board Chair Paul Muvunyi and former Executive Committee head Thaddée Twagirayezu said all existing structures had been suspended and replaced by the interim committee.
The new team, which also includes Jean Baptiste Musabyimana, Olivier Gakwaya, Josée Akayezu, and Me Jean Bosco Nubumwe, has three months to overhaul the club’s regulations and set a clear governance framework. Supporters are hoping this intervention will finally bring stability to a club whose troubles now run deeper than its leadership.
