A smile on every face, giddy laughter, and positive conversations as the Africa Aquaati Zone 3 Swimming Championship returns to Rwanda.

Rwanda will host the two-day swimming event from 23rd-25th November, 2023 at the Gahanga Swimming Pool in Kicukiro District.

According to organizers; East African Swimming Federation in partnership with Rwanda Swimming Federation (RSF), the aquatic competition which is the 8th edition will be attended by 10 countries, including: host Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, South Africa, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Somalia, and Djibouti.

A team of 30 competitors for the competition in various categories has been selected by Rwanda.

Rwanda was represented by five swimmers namely Claude Dusabe, Eric Iradukunda, Eloi Maniraguha, Neema Nyirabyenda and Claudette Ishimwe, when the 2022 event took place in Tanzania.

They will be up against Team Kenya, who competed at the Zone 3 championships under a neutral flag at last year’s edition in Dar es Salaam.

Kenya will be represented in the 10-12 years, 13-14 years, and 15-16 years categories.

Kenya Aquatics secretary general Collins Marigiri is rueful that they could not send a full team, 48 swimmers as per the CANA quota, due to financial constraints.

The event was won by Tanzania last year, and Uganda won it in 2021.
