Rwanda has flagged off two swimmers to Budapest, Hungary for the 19th edition of the FINA World Championships 2022 slated from 18 June to 3 July 2022.
Team Rwanda which is gender unbalanced has two male swimmers in various categories under head coach Patrick Rukundo.
Aged 25, Issiak Bebeto Irankunda will compete both in the 50m and 100m butterfly category.
He represented Rwanda at the African Swimming Championships held in Algeria in 2018.
The other is 2016 Olympian Eloi Imaniraguha, he will take part in both the men’s 50m and 100m freestyle grouping.
Eloi’s last result is the 86th place in the men’s 100 m freestyle – heat during the FINA World Swimming Championships held in the United Arab Emirates – Abu Dhabi – on 16 December 2021.
The two boy swimmers have already been named on Rwanda’s teams for the Commonwealth Games due in Birmingham, England, from 28 July to 8 August and the pair will use the Hungary event as a buildup.
