Evode Uwizeyimana, State Minister in charge of Constitutional & Legal Affairs and Isaac Munyakazi, State Minister for Primary and Secondary Education tendered in their resignation letters to the Prime Minister on Thursday, February 6, 2020.
The news of their resignation was announced by the office of the Prime Minister late on Thursday in a tweet.
The tweet further said that the resignation letters of the two state ministers will be delivered to H.E the President.
Resignation for Uwizeyinama follows social media storm after he shoved to ground a female security guard for requesting him for security screening at one of Kigali’s high rise building. The incident posted on Twitter created many comments and the minister apologised for what happened.
With many social media users calling for justice for what the minister did to the security guard, Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) confirmed to local media that it was investigating the incident.
For Munyakazi, it is not yet clear why he also stepped aside at the same time.
