President Paul Kagame was on Sunday joined by the Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye for the country’s Car Free Day in Kigali, a popular civic and sporting event held twice a month to promote public health, environmental protection, and community cohesion.
The two leaders took part in a five-kilometer walk through Kigali’s streets, interacting with residents in a lively and friendly atmosphere that reflected Rwanda’s strong culture of civic engagement.
President Faye’s participation highlighted the shared priorities of Senegal and Rwanda in advancing active citizenship, sports, and sustainable development as key drivers of a resilient and forward-looking Africa.

During his visit, President Faye also met with members of the Senegalese community in Rwanda, including professionals and entrepreneurs. He commended their contribution to strengthening Senegal’s image abroad and reaffirmed the crucial role of the diaspora in the country’s transformation and development agenda.
The meeting ended in a warm spirit of fraternity and pride, underscoring the unity and dynamism of the Senegalese community in Rwanda.
