More than 500 Rwandans and friends of Rwanda gathered on Saturday, October 11, 2025, for the annual Rwanda Cultural Gala, an event celebrating the richness and uniqueness of Rwandan heritage.
The colorful event, held at the United Kenya Club in Nairobi, offered a platform for Rwandans living in Kenya to showcase their culture, traditions, and community services. It also highlighted products and businesses owned by Rwandans contributing to Kenya’s economy and promoting Rwanda abroad.
Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Kenya, Ernest Rwamucyo, said the celebration was a moment of pride and unity, emphasizing the importance of preserving Rwanda’s cultural values.
“The event was an opportunity to honor our shared heritage, unity, and national pride,” Rwamucyo said, thanking Rwandans and friends of Rwanda for their active participation. He reaffirmed that culture remains a cornerstone of Rwandan identity and national cohesion.
The evening also featured an award ceremony recognizing four Rwandan football teams based in different parts of Kenya that took part in the 2025 Rwanda Community Football Tournament.

Kenya hosts a large Rwandan community, many of whom live and work across the country. The Rwandan Community Association in Kenya brings together nationals who have settled or conduct business there.
The Embassy of Rwanda in Kenya continues to strengthen its services for citizens living in Kenya, Somalia, and Eritrea, while working closely with the Rwandan diaspora to support national development initiatives.
Members of the Rwandan community in Kenya actively contribute to Rwanda’s development by supporting homegrown programs such as Girinka (One Cow per Poor Family), community health insurance for vulnerable families, and Umuganda community work.
Through such initiatives, the Rwandan diaspora in Kenya continues to embody the nation’s spirit of self-reliance and solidarity.
