Rwanda and Togo have discussed strengthening bilateral trade cooperation, with a focus on adding value to Rwanda’s agricultural products for export to Togo.
The discussions took place between the Togolese’s President of the Council of Ministers, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, and Rwanda’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Prudence Sebahizi, following the Biashara Africa conference held in Lomé.
According to Togo’s presidency, the talks focused on strengthening cooperation through the African Continental Free Trade Area, which aims to boost intra-African trade and support the African Union’s Agenda 2063 vision for a prosperous and peaceful continent.
Sebahizi praised the organization of the Biashara Africa forum and described it as an important platform for promoting trade across Africa.
He said the two sides discussed increasing cooperation in trade, particularly in agricultural value addition and exports from Rwanda to Togo.
The Biashara Africa conference opened on May 18 and is scheduled to conclude on May 20, 2026.
