Rwandan authorities say they have evacuated its citizens from Sudan amid fighting, according Alain Mukuralinda, the Deputy Government Spokesperson.
Mukuralinda said, 36 Rwandan nationals who were living and working in Sudan were taken by bus to Cairo, Egypt in a process that started on Monday April 24th.
A power tussle between Sudan’s military and strong paramilitary group, the Rapid Support Forces, led to fighting on April 15 in the capital of Khartoum.
Officials say more than 400 people have been killed and thousands more wounded.
Many Sudanese and foreigners are fleeing the fighting, but millions of others have taken refuge in their homes and schools.
Meanwhile, U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres appealed Tuesday for the fighting between rival generals in Sudan to “stop immediately” and warned that it must not turn into a prolonged, full-scale war.
