President Paul Kagame received Morocco’s Foreign Minister, Nasser Bourita this evening, February 6, 2025, at Village Urugwiro. The meeting focused on deepening ties between Rwanda and Morocco. Minister Bourita also brought a special message from King Mohammed VI of Morocco.

According to the President’s Office, the talks centered on ways to further enhance cooperation in different sectors. “President Kagame received Minister Bourita, who delivered a message from King Mohammed VI. The discussions were focused on boosting the collaboration between the two nations,” the statement said.

The partnership between Rwanda and Morocco is not new. In 2016, King Mohammed VI visited Rwanda for a working trip. During this visit, the two countries signed 19 agreements, covering areas like banking, trade, and facilitating travel for diplomats.

In 2019, Rwanda and Morocco continued to strengthen their bond by signing 12 additional agreements in Rabat, Morocco’s capital. These agreements covered various sectors and further solidified their relationship.

Today, Morocco is among the top countries offering scholarships to African students, including Rwandans. This helps create more opportunities for young people to access higher education.

In 2020, Rwanda’s then-Foreign Minister, Dr. Vincent Biruta, signed two agreements with Morocco, focusing on enhancing government cooperation and sports development. These agreements aimed to promote sports and build stronger connections between the two countries.

The ongoing partnership between Rwanda and Morocco shows both nations’ commitment to mutual growth, creating opportunities for people and businesses on both sides. It also highlights the importance of working together to support Africa’s development.
