The Rwanda Rugby Federation (RRF) is set to conduct elections on November 11th 2023 to elect a new executive committee.
The body will elect the president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, and other commissioners. The outgoing committee’s mandate expired in November 2023.
The announcement was made during the Extraordinary General Assembly over the weekend.
RRF president Tharcisse Kamanda said that elections have been delayed because some members have failed to comply with the general assembly resolutions.
“There are reasons why we are not holding the elections, including the non-compliance with the general assembly resolutions, as well as the replacement of the outgoing treasurer Ihirwe Delphine”. He noted adding that those who don’t comply with the decisions of this extraordinary general assembly will be banned from participating in all RRF activities.
Thousand Hills president, Mr. Serge Shema, after being told that there are many legal requirements that need to be filled by his team, said he accepts. He promised that his club would be able to accomplish this within 30 days.
Also, the assembly approved another member, TSS Gitisi from Ruhango District. This team has applied to play in the second division league.
The assistant manager of this team, Nshimiyimana Enock, stated that the school has boys and girls teams that will play in the league.
He continued on to say that the boys’ team is in an excellent position because they won the cup at inter-school games. This earned them a ticket to represent Rwanda in the FEASSSA games held in Huye District from August 17 to 27, 2023.
Kamanda added that they will continue preparing for the league that starts in November 2023 and other activities. This includes the friendly match against Burundi.
