Rharb Youssef and Ugandan Charles Bbaale were the stars of the show as Rayon Sports FC put 2-1 past Gasogi FC in the opening season game at Gasogi stadium.
In the 11th minute of the first half, Bbaale broke the deadlock and Youssef added another six minutes later – probably the pick of the bunch – to highlight Zelfani Yamen’s team’s positive start to the season.
As a consequence, Gasogi FC worked their way back into the game to score a consolation in the 80th minute. Theodor Malipangou stepped up and slotted in a glorious penalty to reduce Gasogi FC’s deficit to 2-1.
As Gasogi created more decent chances in the 18-yard box, Rayon held on for the deserved win as Gasogi could not convert any of them.
Rayon return to league action next Sunday 27th August when they face Gorilla FC at Nyamirambo Stadium with kick-off scheduled for 15:00.
Similarly, Gasogi FC will face Ramagana FC at Muhazi at 15:00 on the same day.
