Rayon Sports, the Rwandan local football powerhouse, has made a bold move in appointing 43-year-old Frenchman Julien Mette as their new head coach.
Mette officially touched down in Kigali on Friday, January 19th, 2024, and was received with open arms by both club officials and eager fans.
Mette, the Frenchman boasts an impressive coaching resume, having navigated the touch lines of clubs in France, Congo, and Djibouti.
His journey began in 2016 with Tongo FC Jambon in the Congolese league, before steering AS Otôho d’Oyo to two MTN Ligue 1 titles in 2019 and 2023.
He even wore the Sports Director hat at AS Otôho for a season between 2018-19 and guided the Djibouti national team from 2019 to 2022.
Mette’s arrival is marked by an infectious enthusiasm for Rayon Sports.
“I’m happy to be here and to be a part of Rayon Sports as a big club with a lot of fans,” he declared to the media.
