Over 26 coaches have reportedly applied for the vacant position of the Rwanda Technical Director that was advertised by the Rwandan Football Federation (FERWAFA).
Among those jostling for the job includes the former Rayon Sports FC coach Ivan Minnaert, Innocent Seninga (BugeseraFC) and Thierry Hitmana ( Namungo FC in Tz).
French coach Richard Tardy is said to have put in his application for the job however this publication cannot confirm the news.
He was once the Fifa U-17 Rwanda national head coach, leading the team to the 2011 Mexican World.
Tardy previously managed Superleague Greece club Aris Thessaloniki and the Lebanon national football team.
Jules Karagwa, the in house legal officer / assistant spokesperson for FERWAFA on Thursday confirmed the news when he said they received 26 applicants in total before the deadline date however he did not specify how many foreign or local based coaches were.
“ We shall officially announce the full list of the applicants including their names, right now I can’t mention all their names or categorize them. The short list for those who have fulfilled the required criteria will be released soon” He said.
“All the applicants will be screened before the short listed for the written and oral examination. The dates will also be announced soon” he added.
According to the job description, the TD will play a key role in the federation part of his work will include driving forward the technical development of football in Rwanda through termly strategies elaborated in line with FERWAFA’s general mission and objectives.
Other responsibilities include: organizing courses for coaches and instructors, making such clubs observe their obligation to use qualified/certified, reinforces the competitiveness of youth national teams and to promote technical analysis at various levels.
This position was previously held by Rwandan Habimana Hussein. His contract was not renewed upon expiry because he failed to execute his responsibilities.
He is accused of having factiously obtained this TD job since he was not professional and not qualified.
