The National Forum of Political Organizations (NFPO) has elected a new leadership team to guide the body for the next six months, as part of its regular rotation of officeholders.

On Friday, September 19, PSD party MP Muzana Alice was appointed as the forum’s new spokesperson, succeeding PS Imberakuri party MP Mukabunani Christine. She will be assisted by Dieudonne Nsengiyumva of the PPC party, who replaces Balinda Rutebuka of the PL party.

The NFPO’s regulations stipulate that leadership positions rotate among members of different political parties while ensuring gender balance, with one male and one female leader.

MP Muzana, who currently chairs the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Livestock, Land, and Environment, assumed the role unopposed after being nominated by her peers.

In her acceptance speech, Muzana thanked her colleagues for their trust and pledged to work alongside her deputy to promote the development of Rwanda’s political parties.

“We pledge to continue working together, with the main goal of serving all 11 political parties and safeguarding democracy,” Muzana said. “We will collaborate in fulfilling the forum’s responsibilities, contributing to the country’s direction, strengthening democracy, and supporting pillars of national development.”

Outgoing leaders praised the spirit of cooperation and dedication that had guided the forum during their tenure, noting it was key to achieving the NFPO’s objectives.

The leadership rotation reflects Rwanda’s commitment to inclusivity, gender balance, and collaboration among political organizations, ensuring all parties have a voice in the forum’s activities.
