The commemoration of the first anniversary of the Morocco-USA-Israel Tripartite Agreement is not a celebration of a mere diplomatic event, but of a common past, present and future, said , Wednesday 22nd December 2021, in Rabat, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates M. Nasser Bourita.

This first anniversary is a renewal of a promise at three levels, namely that of an authentic commitment to People, a concrete construction of a Partnership and an active commitment to Peace, underlined Mr. Bourita during a videoconference held on this occasion, with the participation of the Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yaïr Lapid, of the American Secretary of State Antony Blinken and of the Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Morocco, David Greene .

The signing, last year, of the Trilateral Joint Declaration before His Majesty King Mohammed VI, was a trigger for the rapprochement of nations, he argued, highlighting the triggering nature of the Agreement which allowed the strengthening of secular bonds between peoples.

Highlighting the Jewish component of Moroccan identity, Mr. Bourita said that the success of this Agreement requires the reconnection of a million Israelis of Moroccan origin with their cultural heritage, as well as their visit to the land of their ancestors who lived there in peace and harmony, under the protection of the Moroccan Monarchy.

The Minister, who called for widening the circle of this partnership, illustrated the aspect of the concept of peace which marks the Trilateral Declaration. “By affirming the full and complete recognition of the sovereignty of Morocco over its Sahara, and by restoring the relationship with the State of Israel, the Joint Trilateral Declaration carried a very high message of peace”, he said. .

In this sense, Mr. Bourita considered that the reestablishment of the relationship with Israel is a contribution to peace in the Middle East. “The Joint Trilateral Declaration is a valuable tool that can help advance peace in the region, improve security and open up new opportunities for all,” he said.

The Minister further noted that the Kingdom, as a historic builder of bridges and a credible player in peace and stability, is firmly committed to contributing to the achievement of lasting peace in the region.

“Under the enlightened leadership of HM the King, Morocco will continue its efforts in favor of a just, lasting and equitable peace based on the solution of two States living side by side in peace and security”, he noted.

In addition, he affirmed that the Sovereign, in His capacity as Chairman of the Al Quds Committee, calls for the preservation of the unique and sacred character of Al Quds Acharif, of its spiritual character and of its particular vocation as a city of peace. .

The Trilateral Declaration confirms and amplifies the vast and rich potential for cooperation between Morocco, the United States and Israel, to open up to partnerships including other countries and regions, he noted.

In accordance with the Royal Vision, “we are committed to a Partnership of action, which is in motion, in favor of a concrete win-win cooperation”, he pleaded, adding that this partnership embraces all areas, in particular health, education, security, economy, commerce, tourism, culture and agriculture.

Mr. Bourita also underlined that the Kingdom has implemented the commitments of this trilateral agreement, through the operationalization of diplomatic missions, the signing of a series of agreements, the exchange of official visits and the activation of sectoral cooperation.
