On Tuesday, Mozambique’s top Defence officials met with Maj Gen Eugene Nkubito, who is starting command of the Rwandan Security Forces Joint Task Force in Mozambique.
Together with the outgoing JTF Commander Maj Gen Innocent Kabandana, they met with Maj Gen Christovao Chume, Minister of Defence, Mozambique’s Capital Maputo.
“Discussions focused on the ongoing counter terrorism operations in Cabo Delgado province. Maj Gen Christovao Chume commended the achievements of the Rwandan Security Forces in collaboration with Mozambique Forces in fighting terrorism in Cabo Delgado,” stated a communique from Rwanda’s Defence Ministry.
The two Rwandan security officials also met with the Chief of General Staff of the Mozambican Armed Forces, Admiral Joaquim Mangrasse, the Police Commander, Inspector General of Police Bernardino Raphaël and the Director of State Security Service, Bernardo Lidimba.
Until recently, Major General Eugene Nkubito was a Brigadier General and promoted to the rank last week by President Paul Kagame ahead of his posting.
