La Croix du Sud Hospital is a leading private Hospital in Rwanda that provides world-class healthcare care services. Founded right after the liberation of the country in 1994, it commenced as a clinic specializing in gynaecology-obstetric which has remained as the backbone of the hospital.
‘KWA NYIRINKWAYA’ is the popularly known and spoken name in reference to the hospital which coined by the locals after the Founder and CEO, Dr. Jean Chrysostome Nyirinkwaya. As a gynaecologist he started the hospital from a small private clinic in Kigali upon return to his motherland.
The high demand of medical services offered at the small clinic forced Dr. Nyirinkwaya to upgrade to Polyclinic La Croix du Sud. In 1998, it shifted to a new larger location, broadening its services like starting surgical operations and by then was performing more than 1,000 deliveries per year.
In 2009, La Croix du Sud took another major step forward when it completed its own modern building and moved to new premises in Remera, Gasabo District, officially became a hospital.
“Since 1995, we chose to customize every aspect of our service,” according to Dr. Nyirinkwaya, who emphasises excellence in offering the best services as the top priority at his hospital.
The hospital has a vision to become one of the best health institutions in Rwanda and in the region by strengthening both preventive and curative medical care services. This will be achieved by offering quality medical care with good service delivery to patients or excellent customer care while employing modern medical technology and professionalism.
La Croix du Sud Hospital has adopted five guiding principles in order to achieve excellence in health care services which are: Integrity, Respect, Determination to offer the best quality services, Empathy towards patients and Reinforcing teamwork spirit.
