On Friday, President Paul Kagame reshuffled his cabinet dropping one of his longest serving ministers James Musoni and appointed Uzziel Ndagijimana, who was Secretary of State for Economic Planning, becoming Finance Minister, a post held by Claver Gatete who moved to the Ministry of Infrastructure.

Musoni who has served in cabinet for 13 years was dropped as the Minister of Infrastructure a post he has held from 2014. Recent local media reports said Musoni was involved in extramarital affairs thus his firing may have come as no surprise.

In a statement signed by Prime Minister, Dr. Eduard Ngirente, President Paul Kagame replaced Musoni who has rarely appeared in public since the scandal was reported.

More changes are the appointment of Dr Claudine Uwera as the State Minister for Economic Planning, Evariste Rugigana as the new Director of Cabinet in the office of the Prime Minister while Alphonsine Mirembe was appointed Permanent Secretary at the Ministry in President’s office and Doreen Kagarama as the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs.

Among other changes, Yvonne Makolo was appointed CEO of RwandAir to replace Colonel Chance Ndagano who has been the acting head of the national air carrier.

The same announcement released by the Prime Minister appointed the head of Government Action Coordination Unit (GACU) Charles Karake and Michelle Byusa as his deputy.
