Hill View Hotel and Apartments opened doors in 2014 with the first property in Kiyovu, one of Kigali’s oldest and high-end suburb situated in the heart of Africa’s smartest city, Kigali. A few years later, it had grown from a little-known hotel to one of the most popular hotspots as its presence spreads to other parts of the country.
Two years after opening, another branch of Hill View Hotel was established on the shores near lake Kivu beach, and in a five-minute drive away from the Rwanda-DRC border post in Rubavu District.
Aside from tapping into hospitality, the management believes that investing in other districts is a strategic opportunity to position themselves as a major player in the hospitality sector.
“The idea of venturing into Rubavu was motivated by our royal customers,” notes Jean Bosco Nkurikiyinka, the Director of Finance at Hill View Hotel, “We had many customers encouraging us to have branches in other regions and Rubavu presented favorable and potential investment opportunities.”
He affirms that the district is a good investment destination for hotels because there is a growing clientele of both local and foreign tourists. Hill View Hotel is building the brand in Rwanda with plans to expand the existing facilities.
Nkurikiyinka says that they have made a fortune from the hotel business. They have two branches – Hill View Hotel in Kigali and Rubavu. A large proportion of the customers are Rwandans, but international guests have been gradually increasing and all appreciate the services at this hotel.
