Rabat –  Finland recognized, yesterday in Rabat, HM King Mohammed VI’s leadership in bolstering the Kingdom’s status as a reliable and key partner for the European Union (EU).

In a Joint Communiqué adopted following the meeting between Finnish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Elina Valtonen, and Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, the Finnish side underscored the Kingdom’s political stability, its comprehensive and ambitious reform agenda, driven by the Sovereign, as well as Morocco’s role as a key EU partner.

Valtonen, who is on an official visit to Morocco at the invitation of Bourita, also expressed her full support to this renewed momentum and her willingness to contribute to the bolstering of the strategically important partnership between Rabat and Brussels.

For its part, Morocco reaffirmed the importance it grants to its long-standing, close, multidimensional, and privileged partnership with the EU.

In this respect, the two ministers welcomed the results of the 15th session of the EU-Morocco Association Council, held in Brussels on January 29, 2026, underlining the progress registered as part of this institutional dialogue.

They also highlighted Morocco’s important and constructive role in the EU’s southern neighborhood as a trusted partner and committed player in regional stability and prosperity.

Bourita and Valtonen welcomed the Mediterranean Pact, launched in Barcelona in November 2025, which promotes a renewed spirit of partnership between the EU and its southern partners, based on mutual trust and shared responsibility.
