Fighting has been reported since Monday between M23 rebels and local armed groups as well as the FARDC in the Bambo region, in the Bwito chiefdom, Rutshuru territory North Kivu.
Local sources indicate that these clashes are taking place precisely in the Chai village, 8 kilometers from Kishishe but also in the locality of Bambo.
Detonations, and heavy weapons were heard in the area, same sources reported.
Even so, a relative calm was observed on the same on the Kilolirwe roads, Masisi territory; as on the Kibumba and Buhumba axis, and Nyiragongo territory North Kivu.
On the Kilolirwe axis, a collision was recorded last Sunday towards Karenga not far from Sake, in the Virunga park, these sources inform us.
The UN radio Okapi also add that at the end of last week, the FARDC and the M23 rebels carried out bombings towards Kibumba, while maintaining their respective positions.
In the meantime, on Monday, a report from the Virunga Energie company says that electricity was restored in the city of Goma and its surroundings (North Kivu), after about a week of outage.
In a press release, the general management of this company indicates that “this recovery is the result of the efforts of several people whom it thanks, as well as the courage of its technicians whom it congratulates”.
Thus, Goma and its surroundings are once again supplied via one of two medium voltage lines recently damaged by bombs in the fighting zone in Kibumba between the M23 rebellion and the FARDC.
Virunga Energie says that this is a temporary repair while waiting for the favorable moment to definitively repair the second medium voltage line which was the most damaged.
