Cricket: Kenya dismiss Rwanda in T20 opener

Kenya’s strong performance on Friday helped the hosts register a three-wicket win against Rwanda.

This was in the opening game of the inaugural Continental T20 Africa Cup in Nairobi.

As a result of winning the toss, Rwanda decided to bat fast. The visitors set the mark at 137 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs.

Kenya managed to chase for 139 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 18.3 overs.

Kenya’s Lucas Oluoch terrorised Rwanda’s batsmen with 4 wickets in 4 overs conceding 36 runs to become the Man of the Match.

Kenya managed (35 off 20) and Collins Obuya (36 off 27) and third batsman Nelson Odhiambo (23 off 24).

Rwanda’s opener and highest scorer Didier Ndikubwimana managed 43 runs off 44 balls. Emile Rukizira took the most wickets for Rwanda at 3 in 4 overs. He conceded 22 runs.

Rwanda will take on Nigeria in their second game on Saturday before meeting Kenya in a second encounter on Sunday. Kenya battles Uganda on Saturday.
