It was the Francisco Couana show in Rwanda, as the Mozambique star had a day to remember in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional Africa B Qualifier on Wednesday.
Couana smashed eight sixes on his way to 104 off just 52 balls, to propel his side to 209 for five against Cameroon, in Group B action.
He added 145 with Jose Bulele (59), as Mozambique went on the rampage.
Couana also spanked six boundaries in his incredible knock, which eventually ended in the penultimate over of the innings.
He wasn’t done there, either, as he then claimed five for 19 in his four overs. That saw Cameroon routed out for 38, to land a massive, 171-run win for Mozambique.
In the other match on the day, Ivan Selemani continued his fine start to the week by rushing Tanzania to an eight-wicket win over Sierra Leone.
Chasing a target of exactly 100, Selemani hammered 70 not out from just 35 balls, to seal the win in just 10.2 overs.
Half a dozen deposits over the ropes, as well as four more boundaries saw Selemani charge to a 30-ball half century.
Earlier, Sierra Leone had posted 99 for eight in their innings, thanks to Solomon Williams chipping in with a breezy 22 at the death.
Ally Kimote (three for 25) was the pick of the bowlers as disciplined lines kept Sierra Leone in check.
– Couana bags century and five-for in route against Cameroon
– Bulele smashes classy half century
– Tanzania down Sierra Leone to make it two from 2
– Selemani amongst the runs again for East Africans
