Rwanda on Friday, September 10 kicked off COVID-19 mass vaccination campaign to 21 districts across all provinces out of Kigali.
More than 137,000 doses of AstraZeneca and 97,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccines were dispatched on Thursday to be administered to residents aged 50 and above, and people with chronic illnesses.
Designated vaccination centres have been set up in all the districts, and mobile medical teams are in place to reach citizens with mobility challenges in their homes.
Rwanda continues to ramp up efforts to acquire sufficient doses, through purchases and other arrangements to ensure all Rwandans are protected from COVID-19.
Over 1,6 million Rwandans have been vaccinated as of September 9, 2021, and the plan is to immunise 30% of the population before the end of 2021.
