The 26th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) that was scheduled next month has been postponed for the second time having been initially schedule for last year, this arises from spikes in Covid-19 cases.
The postponement was announced by the Commonwealth Secretariat on Friday saying that it was in accordance with CHOGM protocols having reviewed the health crisis and risks involved, this was done in close consultations with the Government of Rwanda.
The CHOGM meetings were due to be held in the City of Kigali from June 21-26. A new date for the event was not announced but Rwanda still retains the right to host the event.
The event was initially supposed to have been held in Kigali in June 2020 but was postponed because of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Leaders of the Commonwealth countries meet every two years at the CHOGM and this year were expected to debate how to deliver the things which were discussed at CHOGM 2018 in London.
