Much awaited, the decision of Benin’s appeal against Rwanda has fallen. And it is indeed Benin that is right.
The Confederation of African Football CAF has declared Benin the winner on green carpet after a favorable response to his appeal.
Certainly, during the return match between Rwanda and Benin in Kigali at the end of March 2023, the Beninese side carried a qualification reserve against the Rwandan player Kévin Muhire.
Muhire had received 2 yellow cards and therefore had to observe an automatic suspension for the next match. But, against all odds, Kévin Muhire was aligned during this return match.
A situation that CAF, seized by Benin, also found contrary to its rules. And in accordance with article 105 of the disciplinary code, she declared Rwanda losing by penalty 3-0.
With this new deal, Benin now has 4 points -3 and temporarily takes 2e place in group L behind Senegal, already qualified. The Cheetahs now have two finals to play over the next two days against Senegal in Kouhounou and then against Mozambique which has just been relegated to 3e rank with 4points -4, in Maputo.
