By Charles Ndushabandi;

Razvan Florin Basarabeanu, President of employers’ Association of the Cutting Industry in Romania says that once Rwanda’s manufacturing industry adopts and locally manufactures the latest technologies in the cutting and drilling, it will save a lot of time and resources.

Basarabeanu made the remarks at the sidelines of Public Lecture that was organized by Integrated Polytechnic Regional College (IPRC) Kigali alongside Rwanda Engineers Manufacturing Corporation (REMCO) and Chillington Rwanda. He shared his experience in the cutting machine industry such as CNC operator, programmer, trainer, cuttingtool technicians.

“A lot of time is lost when one uses old technology, hence this leads to loss of resources, I would advise all manufacturers to adopt this technology,” Basarabeanu advised.

He notes that most of the production lines he has visited in Rwanda still use the old technology which delays production hence low output by these companies.

Basarabeanu who has accumulated alot of experience in the industry from different countries across the world is in the country to train REMCO staff on the use of current on technologies in the industry.

Participants during the public lecture

Deogene Mulindahabi, the Principal of IPRC Kigali said the new technology is a God sent blessing for manufacturers that will highly improve production in Rwanda

“In the past, most machines we have been using have been coming from China but they had become very expensive forcing some people to resort to old methods of using people. Now that this kind of technology is being used in Rwanda this will help manufacturers to save a lot of money,” Mulindahabi said.

He adds that in the near future the education board and stakeholders will review the curriculum to include the latest trends in the field.

“Every three or five years we sit with all stakeholders to review the curriculum to incorporate what the industry requires and the new technological trends. When next review happens, we will include this technology,” he added.

Some of the participants of the public lecture who included the students said the new technologies if adopted the country would set targets in the vision 2050.
