National rally champion Giancarlo Davit has confirmed he will take part in the Safari Rally that is scheduled to run from 24-27 June in Kenya’s capital Nairobi.
The event, which will take place in the scenic town of Naivasha in Nakuru County, was restored to the World Rally Championship calendar following an intensive campaign led by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Davite is among the 20 African crews and 24 foreigners who will also be taking part in the 320.19kilometres rally that has previously been described as the most thrilling but enduring rally in world.
“I will take part in the Safari Rally” Davite confirmed in a message.
The Kenya government is the major funder of the Safari rally. More than 2million dollars has been invested in the African round.
All the teams have received continuous communication. The WRC organizing team has all been vaccinated against COVID-19.
The Africa Rally Championship (ARC) was the precursor to the Safari Rally and it was a zero-COVID-19 event.
WRC championship leader Sebastien Ogier will be on to extend his lead.
Great Britain’s Colin Mcrae was the last winner of the WRC Safari rally back in 2002.
