In a match where Lesotho barely made a mark on the scoreboard, it was Kenya’s bowlers who stole the spotlight with an exceptional display of skill and precision. The encounter, part of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifiers, highlighted the formidable depth in Kenya’s bowling attack, raising their profile as serious contenders in the tournament.

Lesotho, despite stretching their innings to 18.1 overs, managed only 33 runs—to Kenya’s relentless bowling. Stella Idagiza, with figures of 3 for 3, and Janet Makau, with 3 for 6, were the architects of Lesotho’s collapse, restricting any hope of a significant score.

Their performance was not just about taking wickets but applying consistent pressure that left Lesotho’s batters with few scoring opportunities.

However, the standout story was not just the low score but how Kenya’s bowlers tactically dismantled Lesotho’s batting lineup. With variations in pace, accuracy, and intelligent field placements, Kenya’s bowlers showed their mastery over conditions, ensuring they remained in control from the first ball to the last.

Khagoitsa’s efforts earned her the Player of the Match award, not only for her role in Kenya’s clinical bowling performance but also for setting the tone for the team’s approach in this crucial stage of the qualifiers.

As Kenya prepares to face Sierra Leone on Thursday, August 22, they will be looking to maintain this momentum, with their bowlers once again expected to play a pivotal role.

The road ahead may still be long, but with such performances, Kenya is proving to be a team with serious ambitions of making it to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cu
