The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations roared to life on Sunday, delivering a day of late drama, resilient displays, and missed opportunities in Group A and F.

Bafana Bafana Blitz Namibia:

South Africa put on a dominant show, thrashing Namibia 4-0 in Group A. Evidence Makgopa bagged a brace, while Bongani Zungu and Themba Zwane added their names to the scoresheet. This emphatic win puts South Africa atop the group with 3 points, leaving Namibia searching for their first points.

Late Daka rescues Zambia against Tanzania:

A tightly contested Group F clash saw Zambia claw back from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Tanzania. Simon Msuva gave the Taifa Stars the early lead, but Patson Daka delivered a late equalizer for the Chipolopolo, keeping their knockout hopes alive. Both teams have 1 point each, their final matches holding the key to their future.

Morocco held by Determined DR Congo:

A tense battle in Group F ended in a 1-1 draw between Morocco and DR Congo. Achraf Hakimi opened the scoring for the Atlas Lions, but Silas Katompa Mvumpa replied for DR Congo in the second half. Missed chances, including a Cedric Bakambu penalty miss for DR Congo, ensured the spoils were shared. Morocco leads the group with 4 points, while DR Congo sit on 2 points.

Drama unfolds as groups remain open:

With exciting results and all four teams in each group still in contention, the final round of group stage matches on Tuesday promise fireworks.

South Africa faces Guinea-Bissau, Namibia takes on Malawi, Zambia clashes with Morocco, and Tanzania battles DR Congo. Every point, every goal, holds the potential to rewrite the destiny of these nations.

Key Players Emerge: South Africa’s Makgopa emerged as a goalscoring hero, while Daka proved Zambia’s savior. Hakimi and Katompa Mvumpa showcased their attacking prowess, and Bakambu’s penalty miss will be a talking point.

Group F Standings:

1. Morocco – 4 points

2. DR Congo – 2 points

3. Zambia – 1 point

4. Tanzania – 1 point
