At least two people have been seriously injured after a bus collided head-on with a trailer along Gakenke road.
The accident occurred at 11:00 pm on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 around Kivuruga Sector, Gasiza Cell in Gakenke District when a Ritco bus coming from Kigali, towards Musanze collided with a Tanzania cargo truck.
Residents, who witnessed the accident, said that both vehicles plunged into each damaging the rear fronts, blocking one part of the road.
The spokesperson of the Rwanda Police in the Northern Province, SP Alex Ndayisenga, said: “The truck driver was driving on the wrong side yet in Rwanda we drive on the left side. That is what caused the collision.”
The identity of the injured are yet to be revealed by police.
