Rwanda and Saudi Arabia have discussed expanding cooperation into new sectors, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said.
The talks brought together Foreign Minister, Amb. Olivier Nduhungirehe, and Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Khereiji.
In a post on X, the ministry said the discussions focused on “strengthening cooperation between Rwanda and Saudi Arabia and exploring new areas for collaboration.”
Rwanda and Saudi Arabia already maintain partnerships in health, education, energy, and infrastructure. Future cooperation could extend to technology, finance, tourism, trade, and investment.
Saudi Arabia is also a major export market for Rwandan agricultural products, particularly vegetables and fruits.
In 2021, the Rwandan government and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia signed a cooperation agreement, building on diplomatic accords first signed in 2018.
