The Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), in collaboration with the Rwanda National Police, have confirmed the arrest of two senior officials of the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) over alleged financial crimes.
In a statement released on social media x on Tuesday September 16, Kalisa Adolphe, former FA Secretary General, and Tuyisenge Eric, who manages equipment for the national football team, Amavubi, are accused of embezzlement, corruption, and using forged documents.
RIB confirmed that both are currently detained at RIB stations in Remera and Kicukiro. Kalisa’s case has already been forwarded to the prosecution, while investigations into Tuyisenge and others continue.
If convicted, the duo could face severe penalties under Rwandan law. Embezzlement carries six months to two years in prison and fines of two to five times the stolen amount. Forgery can bring two to five years behind bars, while corruption offenses and abuse of office attract heavy fines and jail terms. Additional charges could apply if money laundering is involved.
In a stern warning issued on September 16, 2025, RIB reminded public officials and employees not to exploit their positions for personal gain, stressing that such acts are punishable by law.
