Mozambique’s Speaker of Parliament, Margarida Adamugi Talapa, on Tuesday praised the Rwanda Security Forces for their role in helping restore peace and stability in the insurgency-hit Cabo Delgado province during a visit to Mocímboa da Praia.
Talapa toured areas secured by Rwandan forces deployed under a bilateral security mission supporting Mozambican efforts to combat terrorism and violent extremism in the country’s north.
She was accompanied by Cabo Delgado Governor Valige Tauabo and the Chief of Defence of the Mozambique Armed Forces, Maj. Gen. André Rafael Mahunguane.

The delegation was received by Maj. Gen. Vincent Gatama, commander of the Rwandan Joint Task Force in Mozambique, who briefed them on the current security situation across areas under Rwandan responsibility.
Talapa commended the professionalism and commitment of the Rwandan troops working alongside Mozambican forces, saying peace and security are essential foundations for sustainable development in Mozambique. She encouraged the Rwandan contingent to remain steadfast in carrying out its mission.
She also highlighted the strong cooperation between Rwandan and Mozambican security institutions, describing it as a reflection of shared resolve to restore lasting peace in Cabo Delgado and to deepen bilateral relations between the two countries.
Talapa said the partnership continues to strengthen solidarity and friendship between Mozambique and Rwanda, underscoring the importance of regional and international cooperation in addressing security challenges.
