The stage is set for the CECAFA Kagame Cup 2025, with the group stage draw serving up tantalizing fixtures that promise fireworks across East and Central Africa when the tournament kicks off from September 2-15, 2025 in the host city Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
In Group A, Tanzanian side Singida B.S Headline a tricky pool that also features Garde-Costes FC, Ethiopian heavyweights Ethiopian Coffee SC, and Kenyan outfit Kenya Police FC. With tradition and firepower in abundance, this group is already being dubbed the “group of grit.”
All eyes are on APR FC, the runners-up who came heartbreakingly close in 2024. Will they return stronger, eager to stop the other clubs? The Rwandan champions have landed in Group B, where they face Tanzanian Premier League side KMC FC, Burundi’s Bumamuru FC, and Zanzibar’s Mlandege FC. The army side will be expected to flex their muscle, but every match promises a test of character.
Over in Group C, Sudanese giants Al Hilal will square off against South Sudan’s Kator FC, Somalia’s Mogadishu City Club, and Sudanese rivals Al Ahly SC Wad Madani. With derby-like encounters on the horizon, Group C is set to be a fan favorite.
The tournament, backed by official sponsor Betika, will not only crown the region’s kings but also serve as a proving ground for new talent and fierce rivalries.
Last year, Zambian giants Red Arrows FC etched their name into CECAFA folklore, becoming the first guest side ever to lift the trophy. They edged Rwanda’s APR FC in a heart-stopping final, winning 10–9 on penalties after a gripping 1–1 draw in Dar es Salaam.
