Newly appointed Police FC head coach Ben Moussa has sent a clear message ahead of the 2025/2026 Rwanda Premier League season: he’s not here to relax or enjoy the scenery — he’s here to win the title.
While teams across the league prepare for the season kickoff in September, Police FC is already deep into preseason training, fueled by renewed ambition. Historically, the club has hovered around the top but fallen short of championship glory. Moussa, however, is determined to change that narrative.
“I came to Rwanda to win the league,” declared the Tunisian tactician in a recent media interview. “I didn’t come for tourism. I have a contract to honor, and I’m here to change the mindset and the history of this club.”
Police FC has typically finished in second, third, or fourth place. But Moussa insists that settling for anything less than the title is no longer an option.
“If I wanted to maintain the status quo, I would have stayed home. I’m here to rewrite the story of Police FC.”
For Moussa, winning starts with mindset. He emphasized mental strength, consistency, and belief as the foundation for success.
“To win the league, you have to believe you can beat anyone—whether it’s the bottom team or the top four. Every single match counts.”
Early signs are encouraging. Police FC has swept all three of its pre season friendlies, defeating Marines FC 2–0, Rutsiro FC 1–0, and notably APR FC 2–1—a significant scalp.
Since his appointment in July 2025, replacing Vincent Mashami, Moussa has been backed by assistant coach Jabir Mutarambirwa, previously assistant at Kenya Police under Etienne Ndayiragije.
The club has bolstered its squad with key signings including Burundian midfielder Leonard Gakwaya from Bugesera FC and right-back Samuel Nsengiyumva from Gorilla FC, both on two-year contracts. Gakwaya spent two years at Bugesera after moving from Flambeau du Centre FC, while Nsengiyumva is regarded as one of the league’s top right-backs after six years at Gorilla.
In addition, Police FC extended contracts for goalkeeper Onesime Rukundo, defenders Samuel Ndizeye and Eric Nsabimana, and striker Didier Mugisha, ensuring a strong core to support Moussa’s ambitions.
