Rayon Sports’ tough run at Amahoro Stadium continued on Saturday evening as they were convincingly beaten 4–0 by Sudanese giants Al Hilal SC, marking yet another frustrating night for the Blues at their traditional home ground.
The match, played on Matchday 15 of the Rwanda Premier League 2025/2026, kicked off at 5:30 PM, and it didn’t take long for Al Hilal to stamp their authority.
From the opening minutes, Rayon struggled to settle. They found it difficult to keep possession, often losing the ball almost immediately after winning it. That pressure told early. In the 10th minute, Elhadji Kane gave Al Hilal the lead after his initial shot struck the post and rebounded kindly for him to tap home, capitalizing on hesitation in the Rayon Sports defense as players briefly appealed for offside.

The early goal forced Rayon to retreat deeper into their own half. While that approach limited Al Hilal’s chances for a spell, it also blunted Rayon’s own attacking threat. The game became stop-start, with frequent fouls in midfield, and whenever Rayon looked like they might threaten, they were repeatedly caught offside. Al Hilal went into the break 1–0 ahead, comfortably in control.
Al Hilal returned for the second half with fresh intent, making changes that immediately shifted the balance. The introduction of Ousmane Diouf and Jean Claude Girumugisha injected pace and movement, and the impact was instant. In the 56th minute, Girumugisha doubled the lead, calmly finishing after being released with a perfectly timed pass.
Rayon barely had time to respond before conceding again. Just four minutes later, Abdelrazig Taha made it 3–0, finishing off a well-worked move that began with Adama Coulibaly, who beat two defenders before setting up the goal.
As the match wore on, Al Hilal continued to look sharper and more composed. Deep into stoppage time (90+5 minutes), Girumugisha completed his brace to seal a dominant 4–0 victory, underlining Al Hilal’s superiority on the night.
The win lifts Al Hilal to the top of the table with 35 points, strengthening their grip on the title race. For Rayon Sports, however, it was another sobering evening at Amahoro Stadium—one that leaves them searching for answers as the season progresses.
