By Jejje Muhinde;

The schedule for this year’s national rugby seven rampage competition has been confirmed as players count down to the kick-off at Amahoro National Stadium on 13 November 2021.

Eight men and six women rugby teams will battle out for the trophy, the Rwanda Rugby Federation (RFF) has confirmed.

RFF President Tharcisse Kamanda has told this publication that they’re waiting for permission from the Ministry of Sports to confirm if the Amahoro Stadium will be available, and yes they did.

“Having the return of rugby after a long time due to Covid-19 means a lot for the players, teams as wells as the fans.  The Seven tournaments is also an opportunity for us (federation), players and teams to return to play especially the Sevens will bring more teams to participate and we can be able to control the pandemic” he  pointed out.

Kamanda noted that they’re ready to ensure that the competition resumes in line with the guideline provided by the Ministry prior to competition resumption.

RFF has appointed an inspection task force that is responsible to ensure that team and players comply with covid-19 protocols.

When asked if fans will be allowed for the 7 Aside competition, the president said, “Yes fans are welcome but if they’re or get tested”

The coronavirus breakout on March 14 led to cancellation of all rugby competitions and cup events in 2020. This includes the national leagues, Rugby Sevens, and Youth school competitions program.
